On our own -09-07-2016

After we finished our tour with Pamela we decided to stop by the Paris Hilton and see if we could hook up with Pam and Roy Smith and the rest of the members of our party that we will be on the cruise with.  Everyone had just completed their trans-Atlantic flights and checked into the hotel.  We all met in the lounge and discussed our travels and future plans.  It was great to see everyone especially Pam and Roy, as they were the ones who set up and organized the cruise.  It will be a 7 day  river cruise on the River Seine.  We will embark on Friday and travel to Normandy and return to Paris the following Friday.  Overnight stops will be different villages along the way.  This has been a good trip and is getting better.
Larry and Pat traveled to Versailles today and took a tour of the royal palace and the French gardens.  This palace was the home of French monarchs for about 100 years.  The revolution of 1789 changed all of that.  The royal family was evicted by the citizen-protesters.  Later it was opened as a museum.  It just shows you what you can do when you have free reign over the public treasury.
Linda and I stayed back and toured Paris by walking, subway, and bus.  Our fitbit's recorded almost 30,000 steps today.
Larry and Pat got back around 1830 and we walked to the Eiffel Tower.  After we took pictures, we decided that enough walking had taken place so we voted to take a taxi back to our apartment.  Being a tourist will wear you out.
